WHO WE ARE
— A National Social Impact-Focused Digital Marketing Agency with a Hub in Northern New Mexico —
Obtain Creative offers over 30 years of combined experience working with nonprofits and government agencies — as well as large national and international brands across a variety of industries.
Our team focuses on data-backed strategies with attention to detail, starting with a deep dive into your organization’s goals to inform our work together. Through the years, we found our best client relationships involve ones with passionate, purpose-driven teams who don’t shy away from getting into the nitty gritty and coming up with a robust, meaningful strategy (we take care of that 😉).
We also offer a free site and online presence evaluation, giving you a sneak peek of the value we can offer. Just visit the “Free SEO & Site Evaluation” page, fill in three simple fields, and we’ll send it your way.
*We process these individually, so please give us a full business week to receive and return yours. There is no automation here. Told you we were different.
If we sound like a good fit for your organization, please reach out to schedule a call or Zoom with our team. We look forward to serving you! Thanks for checking us out!

FOUNDER & CEO

Ash Steele, Founder & CEO
Ash Steele is the Founder and CEO of Obtain Creative, a women-led marketing agency based in the high desert of Northern New Mexico. With over 15 years of experience, Ash brings a unique balance of creative vision and analytical strategy to every project — a blend honed over a career that’s spanned national publications, scrappy startups, and global brands.
She began her journey in Los Angeles in 2008, working in editorial and art direction at 944 Magazine, before diving deep into the world of digital marketing at tech-forward startups in Denver. There, she expanded her expertise across design, copywriting, SEO, web development, and social media — eventually leading entire digital departments at national agencies. But the glossy surface of mainstream marketing left her wanting more.
In founding Obtain Creative, Ash created the agency she wished she’d seen earlier: one rooted in empathy, integrity, and the radical belief that creative work can be both strategic and soul-filled. Today, she leads a diverse, all-female team focused on elevating purpose-driven clients across sectors like education, conservation, and social equity.
At the heart of her leadership is a deep commitment to women mentoring women. Ash knows the power of being seen and supported — and she’s passionate about offering a hand to the next generation of changemakers. Got a marketing question? Ask Ash — she’s always happy to help.

It`s not the algorithm (most of the time.)
One of the biggest trends we`re seeing right now isn`t a new platform, feature, or algorithm update. It`s a shift toward audience-first content.
When organizations tell us their reach is down, our first question isn`t usually, "What changed in the algorithm?" It`s:
"Why would someone stop scrolling for this post?"
That`s not meant to be harsh. It`s a reminder that people are overwhelmed with content. The organizations standing out today aren`t necessarily posting more. They`re creating content that feels relevant to the people they`re trying to reach.
For social impact-oriented orgs, that often means moving away from mission overload and grant-report language and toward stories, people, community voices, and real-world impact.
Your mission is important, but your audience needs a reason to connect with it first. Before you publish your next post, ask yourself:
"Would someone outside our organization find this interesting, helpful, inspiring, or worth sharing?"

Happy Birthday to our Director of Client Services, Maggie! 🎉
Maggie is a force to be reckoned with. She`s the one keeping projects moving, details organized, and the rest of us on track. Honestly, we`d be a little lost without her.
Beyond being an incredible teammate, Maggie is also an exceptional mother, leader, and friend. She brings thoughtfulness, dedication, and heart into everything she does, and our team is better because of it.
We`re so grateful for all the ways she shows up for our clients, our team, and her family.
Join us in wishing Maggie the happiest of birthdays and a year filled with all the good things she deserves!

June is a natural time to pause and take stock of what`s working, what`s not, and where your marketing efforts are headed next.
One trend we`re seeing across Social Impact marketing right now is a shift away from doing more and toward doing what matters most.
That means:
✓ Prioritizing stories over announcements
✓ Using analytics to inform decisions
✓ Repurposing content instead of constantly creating from scratch
✓ Building genuine community instead of chasing vanity metrics
The second half of the year is a great opportunity to refine your approach before year-end campaigns, giving season, and annual reporting begin.

If Instagram were a community garden, we`d all be paying a little less attention to the flowers and a little more attention to the people stopping by.
One of the biggest takeaways from recent Instagram conversations is that connection matters more than ever.
Likes are still nice. They`re a sign that someone enjoyed what they saw. But saves, shares, and watch time tell a deeper story. They show that people found something valuable enough to revisit, recommend, or spend time with.
For nonprofits, community organizations, and mission-driven brands, that`s actually encouraging news! Because meaningful content isn`t always the loudest content. Sometimes it`s the post that teaches something helpful, shares a story that resonates, or reminds someone they belong.
The best communities, online and offline, aren`t built overnight. They grow through consistency, care, and creating something people want to return to.

One of the biggest shifts we’re seeing in social media right now? More content doesn’t automatically mean better results.
Across platforms, audiences are engaging more with content that feels intentional, thoughtful, and worth spending time with. Instagram’s continued push toward saves, shares, watch time, and meaningful engagement has made quality matter more than sheer volume.
That’s actually something we’ve adjusted at Obtain.
We intentionally lessened our posting frequency so we could focus on creating stronger, more valuable content. Fewer rushed posts. More strategy. More storytelling. More content designed to connect, not just fill a calendar.
And honestly? It’s led to better-performing content and a healthier creative process for our team, too. Sometimes “less is more” isn’t about doing less overall. It’s about making more room for intention.
Swipe through to see a few examples of high-quality content we’ve loved creating lately 💛
